Why we must do things differently.

My latest project that could very well be my last in Colorado.

What do you typically think when someone mentions Colorado?

The Denver Broncos? John Elway? or how about The famous Bipolar Weather systems that colorado often changes in a single day? When you think Colorado most likely those are just some of the things that comes to mind but does Hip Hop cross your mind? How about the Automotive scene? The last two things I mentioned here will not cross the minds of most outside folks who travel here from out of town in fact most believe its non existent in my 25 years of being here. I'm here to say that there such a thing as a Rap scene as well as a growing automotive in this state. Most people don't know there's an increase but its there.

For many years now the Rap game here in the springs has been mostly an underground scene from guys like "James Dirty Baldrick" with Seven One Nine magazine which talks about local artists who are trying to put themselves out there. Throughout the last few years there has been quite a few videos popping up on youtube with these guys producing rap videos of their own. There are rap artists from Colorado Springs. I never really was to big into the rap game but I always respected their passion and what most of those guys did. My passions were always with exotic cars and severe storms.

In 2008 is when I purchased my first Camera being an RCA filp camera with the full intentions of not only going out to Storm Chase but to film what the Automotive scene is all about. One day I had hoped to create something similar to that of what Rob Ferretti has done with Super Speeders were they would film videos of exotic cars racing except that it would be right here in Southern Colorado My main influences however came from storm chaser "Jeff Piotrowski" and Streetfire user "VRAlexnader" on how I filmed all of my videos. So I opened up a Youtube account and never got quite as many views until I became apart of Ricekiller.com and in early 2010 put out the first video with "Colorado Ricekillers" and before I knew it I got more views by spreading the word in various forums. Ultimately the video was an instant hit because we knew we weren't perfect and we had to take a change in a different direction than what everyone else around the nation was doing and that included on how the video was formatted and the music I picked out was also very important.

During the Summer of 2010 with the help of "Invincible Peformance" we put together an event for anyone to participate in which is known as the Colorado Road Rally or Limit Racing around the nation. Most hard core street racers hated it because you couldn't drive beyond the speed limit but overall I managed to attract the right people and support but it did fade away due to the lack of funding and the Colorado Springs Police Cracking down on anyone attempting to have free fun after hours. Also many folks were deployed.

Since last year I have had plans of making a long 30 minute Youtube video that will be published on both my Youtube and Streetfire.net account within the coming weekend showcasing the Colorado Automotive scene with overall hopes of inspiring people to stand up and take notice. I hope that when people watch this video that they themselves will go this fall to black friday, buy a nice camera and be out next year making car videos of their own and for many years to come. Before producing the Colorado Ricekiller video that gained so many views there really wasn't many Colorado Springs videos overall that got many views or any feedback at all in fact there was only a handfull of car videos from Colorado put up. Since having my youtube and street fire pages that has all changed. Even "Crushingame" has put out a music video of their own. A few others have as well but its not enough were people know were the noise is coming from.

I had plans of making more videos for Ricekiller.com under the Colorado moniker however due to conflict with a moderator that will never happen. Although I do plan on using the logo that I designed myself in the video to appear once last time ever in any video I produce that does not mean I support Ricekiller.com, It means I support those who I know who still post on the site who are locally.

Now most people are wondering why would I bother with a near dead automotive scene out in the Springs? Well its because it hasn't gone mainstream yet. Just like the Rap scene, we don't have that Paul Wall or Ice Cube Rapper who comes from Colorado that has made it big. At least not yet. The same could be said about the Colorado Automotive scene, it hasn't made its version of Super Speeders or a Teckademics Mischief Series yet.

If things are to change in Colorado in general whether it be the Rap scene or the Automotive scene and that is we must do things differently than what the rest of America is doing. We can't be practicing the norm and expecting to get standout results. It does not work that way. You must take chances in a different direction and understand there will be risks that must be taken.

The Action now rests on anyone who reads this blog to go pick up your camera and start making noise.
